Thusald (THOO-zuld) is an alternate history project that focuses on the existence of a continent in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, akin to real-world legends of Atlantis. This project attempts to add realism to what was once a simple legend in the ancient Mediterranean, exploring what the history of this continent might have looked like had it existed. The name Thusald is derived from the indigenous languages of the continent, originating in the Proto-West-Plains (PWP) term *dē wōtsānlōm “land of humans”. Proto-West-Plains and its relatives are derived from Proto-Atlantean, a language that was thought to have been brought to the continent by descendants of the Iberomaurusian culture. For many years, variations of the term Atlantis were used to refer to this region, but the indigenous term Thusald has seen some resurgence after decolonization efforts and civil reforms of the 19th and 20th centuries.
This page serves as a hub for all information relevant to this alternate history project. It is currently a work in progress. Below, I have included a brief table of contents.
